Liberty Travels to the Tar Heel State

The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse team travels to Elon, N.C., tomorrow to take on the Elon Phoenix at 2 p.m. at Rudd Field. Liberty is looking to rebound from Wednesday's tough 18-5 loss at James Madison while also putting an end to Elon's winning streak.

Series History Versus the Phoenix                    
The Lady Flames and the Phoenix will square off on the lacrosse pitch for the second time in program history tomorrow. Liberty holds a 1-0 series advantage after downing Elon, 13-9, on Feb. 21, 2014 in Lynchburg, Va.

Previewing the Lady Flames
The Lady Flames enter tomorrow's contest with a 2-7 overall record following Liberty's most recent 18-5 loss at James Madison on Wednesday night. The Dukes jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. Liberty received a spark from freshman Katy Pridemore, who netted a hat trick in the loss to James Madison.

Pridemore notched her fifth hat trick in nine games on Wednesday evening against the Dukes. The two-time Big South Freshman of the Week has netted a goal in each of the nine contests thus far. The standout freshman leads the team in goals (24) and points (32). Pridemore currently ranks second on the squad with eight assists.

Sam Struss enters the bout with Elon as the team's assists leader with nine. The senior from Pennsylvania also ranks second on the team with 18 goals and 27 points.

Morgan Becker ranks third on the team in goals with 12. The Round Hill, Va., native also sits third on the team in assists with six and points with 18.

Michaela Rich rounds out the scoring leaders for the Lady Flames as the sophomore enters the contest with 10 goals in seven appearances. Rich has also added four assists on the season for a point total of 14.

Juliann Elmer ranks first in the nation in saves with 131 and saves per game with 14.56. Elmer also leads the team in ground balls with 27. Despite the standout performance for the Phoenix, Md., native, Elmer enters the contest with a 2-7 overall record.

Previewing the Phoenix
Elon enters the contest with a 6-3 record thus far. The Phoenix have notched victories in three consecutive outings, including wins over Big South opponents Coastal Carolina and High Point. In its most recent match, Elon picked up a 10-5 win against the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday at Rudd Field.

The Phoenix are led offensively by Stephanie Asher, who has buried 28 goals on the season and added five assists for a points total of 33.

Sloane Kessler leads the squad in assists with 14 while also ranking second in goals with 13.

Elon nets 11.44 goals per game while only allowing 10.22 on average. A large part of that is thanks to Rachel Ramirez, the Phoenix's sophomore goalkeeper from New York. Ramirez has allowed 85 goals in nine contests for an average goals allowed of 9.96.

Looking Ahead
Following tomorrow's contest, the Lady Flames return home for their conference opener against the Campbell Camels on April 4 at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. Liberty will then return to action two days later to square off against Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
