Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with sophomore Aklesso Agama before the Flames departed for the Texas Relays.
Agama has enjoyed some impressive results during the past month. He was named Men's Outstanding Field Performer at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships, after sweeping the men's long jump and triple jump titles.
One week later, Agama finished second in the men's long jump and eighth in the triple jump at the IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Florida native has carried that success into the outdoor season, winning the men's long jump and triple jump at Saturday's Virginia Cup.
During the past month, Agama has extended his long jump personal best to 24-0.25 and his triple jump best to 50-2, becoming the first Flame since 2011 to achieve both a 24-foot long jump and 50-foot triple jump.
Agama is slated to compete in the 100-meter dash and triple jump at the prestigious Texas Relays, slated for Thursday through Saturday in Austin, Texas.
