• LHP Jared Lyons was named the Big South Pitcher of the Week for March 16-22. The senior allowed three hits in pitching his fi rst shutout of the year in a 3-0 win at Radford, Sunday.

• Lyons tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts and did walk a batter. He was perfect through the 5 2/3 innings, Sunday.

• Lyons leads the Big South in ERA (1.29) and opponent batting average (.167).

• OF Aaron Stroosma posted his fi rst three-hit game at Liberty in Sunday's 3-0 win at Radford. Stroosma leads the Flames with eight stolen bases.

• SS Dalton Britt hit his third home run of the year this past Saturday at Radford. Britt has hit more home runs in 2015 than he did in his first two seasons at Liberty (2).

• Friday, Britt posted his third three-hit game of the year, Friday at Radford.

• C Becker Sankey collected three hits, two home runs and a double, and drove in a career-high five runs in Liberty's win at Virginia Tech, last Tuesday. He also scored a career-high three times. One of his home runs was the fi rst grand slam of his career.

• 2B Nick Salisbury posted carer-highs with four hits and three runs scored in the Flames' win at Virginia Tech, last Tuesday.

• 1B/C Alex Close recorded his second three-hit and three-RBI contest at Virginia Tech, last Tuesday. Close also pitched the fi nal 2/3 of inning in the Liberty win.

• OF/1B Andrew Yacyk has reached base in each of his last 17 games, a team-high. The sophomore also had his team-high hit streak end at 10 games on Sunday.

• LHP Michael Stafford moved to 2-1 on the year with seven solid innings at Virginia Tech, last Tuesday. He gave up one run on six hits, striking out a career-high seven. The outing was the longest of his career.


Lyons Named Big South Pitcher of the Week
• Flames left-hander Jared Lyons has been named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played March 16-22.

• Lyons fashioned a three-hit shutout, the first of his career, leading Liberty to a 3-0 victory over Radford, this past Sunday.

• The left-hander handcuffed the host Highlanders, allowing three baserunners in going the distance for the first time in his Liberty career.

• The senior from Yorktown, Va., was perfect through the fi rst 5 2/3 innings, before a two-out double in the
bottom of the sixth. The Highlander was the only runner Lyons allowed to reach second base in the contest.

• With the win, Lyons runs his record to 3-0 on the year. He gave up three hits and struck out 10, tying a career high. He did not walk a batter, the first time he has not issued a free pass in a start, this season.


Close Heats Up
• Senior Alex Close has seen his batting average climb over the last 10 games and with it, his RBI total.

• Close has hit .395 with 15 RBI, both team highs, over the span. He also has posted a team-high .467 on base percentage.

• The Preseason All-American and Preseason Big South Player of the Year, Close has raised his batting average 60 points over the span to .321.

• He enters the week leading the Flames in RBI (18), runs scored (17) and on base percentage (.420).
