Liberty opened its new softball stadium this past weekend, hosting the Liberty Softball Classic from Thursday through Sunday. The Lady Flames posted a 3-2 record at the invitational, including a 9-2 victory over Rider on Thursday in the first-ever game in the facility.
Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) was on hand for the entire weekend, and provides highlights and analysis from players and head coach Dot Richardson.
Liberty's victory over Rider saw numerous stadium firsts, with Megan Robinson recording the first hit, Madison Kotchey the first double and RBI, Mickey Loveridge the first triple, Tori Zavodny the first stolen base and home run and Chandler Ball the first pitch, strikeout and victory. The Lady Flames also held off Princeton, 2-1, on Friday behind a three-hitter from Kenzie Friesen before posting four doubles in a 4-1 win over Quinnipiac on Saturday.
The Lady Flames improved to 12-14 on the season, as the team embarks on a five-game road swing this week.
