For the first time in her Liberty career, Juliann Elmer has been named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for contests played from March 16-22, announced by the league office.
The Phoenix, Md., native is the first Lady Flames' goalie to capture the award since Kristen Masullo garnered the recognition on April 17, 2014.
The junior goalie continued to pile onto her NCAA leading saves total, adding 13 saves in Wednesday's 11-7 victory at George Mason. Elmer pushed her season total to 121 saves, a 15.13 saves per contest average. Against the Patriots, Elmer allowed a season low seven goals, collecting her second victory of the season. Elmer also scooped up three ground balls to add to her team-high 23 on the season.
Elmer and the Lady Flames return to action on Wednesday, when Liberty looks for its third win of the season, this time at James Madison. The Lady Flames are set to take on the Dukes at 7 p.m. at University Park in Harrisonburg, Va.
