(L-R): Mychelle Cumings, Fred Fulton and Ryan Davis were named Big South Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

For the second straight week, Liberty athletes have claimed three Big South Conference track & field weekly honors. This time around, the Flames' honorees include redshirt junior Mychelle Cumings (Women's Field Athlete of the Week), sophomore Ryan Davis (Men's Track Athlete of the Week) and redshirt junior Fred Fulton (Men's Field Athlete of the Week).

The Liberty trio was recognized after posting impressive marks at the 2015 outdoor season-opening Coastal Carolina Invitational, contested Friday and Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Cumings' seventh career Big South weekly award comes as a result of her shot put (49-6.5) and discus (163-6) titles on Saturday. At this early stage of the 2015 outdoor campaign, Cumings ranks No. 2 nationally in the shot put and No. 9 in the discus. Her marks should be sufficient for qualification to the 2015 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet in both events.

Davis picked right up where he left off in 2014. The defending Big South men's 400 hurdles champion clocked a time of 52.91 to win the event on Saturday. He ranks No. 6 nationally thus far this season.

Like Cumings, Fulton made a successful return from a redshirt season last weekend. He won the men's shot put (55-3.5) and discus (167-3) competitions, while placing fifth in the hammer at 172-8. After his initial outdoor meet as a Flame, Fulton ranks No. 6 in program history for the shot put, No. 9 for the discus and No. 10 for the hammer. Additionally, he sits at No. 6 in the shot put and No. 12 in the discus on the 2015 national performance list.

Liberty will be back in action at the Virginia Cup, Saturday afternoon at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Va. Field events will begin at noon and running events will follow at 2:15 p.m. for the team-scored meet featuring Liberty, Virginia, Norfolk State, James Madison (women only) and Radford (women only).
