Lady Flames Travel to George Mason

The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse squad looks to rebound against George Mason tomorrow at George Mason Stadium, after a tough 0-2 trip to California this past week. The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m. in Fairfax, Va.

Series History Versus the Patriots                    
Liberty squares off against George Mason on the lacrosse pitch for the fourth time in program history. The Patriots currently lead the series 3-0. In the most recent showdown, the Patriots traveled to Lynchburg where the Lady Flames dropped the contest by a score of 16-8 on March 3, 2014.

Previewing the Lady Flames
Liberty hopes to bounce back from a tough 18-12 loss at the hands of San Diego State on Friday in San Diego, Calif. The Aztecs rode a 6-0 stretch midway through the second half to bury the Lady Flames' hopes of notching the victory. Liberty enters the match with a 1-6 record after having dropped its third consecutive contest heading into tomorrow's match.

Katy Pridemore paces the Lady Flames' attack with a team-high 19 goals. The standout freshman also leads the team in assists with eight and in points with 27. The Florida native has netted a goal in each of the seven contests thus far and averages 3.86 points per game to rank Top 50 in the nation.

Sam Struss enters tomorrow's showdown as the second-leading scorer on Liberty's attacking force. The senior currently has 17 goals on the year and six assists for a points total of 23. Struss sits in second on the squad in goals, assists and points.

Morgan Becker rounds out the double-digit goal scorers for the Lady Flames as the co-captain ranks third on the team in goals with 10. The Round Hill, Va., native also sits third on the team in assists with four and points with 14.

Juliann Elmer ranks first in the nation in saves with 108 and saves per game with 15.43. Elmer also leads the team in ground balls with 20. Despite the standout performance for the Phoenix, Md., native, Elmer enters the contest with a 1-6 overall record.

Previewing the Patriots
George Mason enters the contest with a 4-2 record on the season. Tomorrow's match will be the home opener for the Patriots. In their most recent contest, George Mason downed Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y. by a score of 11-10.

The Patriots are led by Jacquelyn Spalding with 14 goals and 15 assists for a total of 29 points on the year.

Alexa McGovern and Melissa Lobaccaro round out the double-digit scoring leaders for George Mason as McGovern enters the contest with 12 goals and Lobaccaro enters with 11.

Taylor Carpenter has anchored the defense in goal for the Patriots, allowing 9.33 goals per game and boasting a save percentage of .477.

Looking Ahead
Following tomorrow's contest, the Lady Flames travel to Harrisonburg, Va. next Wednesday to take on in-state opponent James Madison. The contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at University Park.
