Liberty's trio of senior Abigail Flower (Women's Track Athlete of the Week), senior Riley Brandon (Women's Field Athlete of the Week) and freshman Darrel Jones (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) was honored by the Big South Conference on Thursday.

Flower, Brandon and Jones each excelled at the 2015 IC4A and ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, contested March 6-8 at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. They helped the Liberty women's squad post a fifth-place finish in the ECAC standings and the men's team place eighth in the IC4A standings.

Flower finished second in the ECAC 60 dash final in 7.54 seconds and came in fifth in the 200 final with a school-record time of 24.14. The program record stood at 24.37 seconds entering the weekend, before Flower clocked a 24.24 in the prelims and a 24.14 in the final. The Lynchburg, Va., native is now tied for second on the Big South's all-time indoor 200 list.

Brandon was the ECAC pentathlon runner-up, thanks to a personal-best score of 3,753 points. She moved up to No. 3 in Liberty and Big South history for the pentathlon after adding 117 points to her previous best score.

Brandon high jumped 5-5 and long jumped an indoor-best 17-6.75 before closing out the competition with a personal-best 2:15.61 clocking in the 800. That ranks No. 6 in program history for the event.

Jones came in fourth in the IC4A triple jump competition with a season-best 49-5.75 leap. That mark puts the freshman No. 4 in program history and No. 8 in Big South annals.

Liberty will open the 2015 outdoor track & field season Friday and Saturday at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. each day at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
