Introducing Field Hockey Newcomer Sara Beth Davis

Sarah Beth Davis competed four years at Eastern High School before signing a National Letter of Intent to compete for head coach Jodi Murphy and the Liberty Lady Flames field hockey program.

Davis has been named the varsity Most Valuable Player by her coaches and peers as well as named to the second district all-district team. In 2011 and 2014, Davis competed in the National Futures Championship. In 2013, Davis placed second at the National Field Hockey Festival in the top pool.

Davis is a strong advocate of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), as evidenced in her role as an FCA leader. At her home church, Hurstbourne Baptist Church, Davis volunteers as a youth group leader. Davis also volunteers as a basketball coach for Upward Basketball, Baptist Fellowship Center and at the local homeless shelter.

Why did you choose Liberty?

"The first time I visited the campus I knew I had to go here. It was so evident that the Lord was and continues to bless Liberty. The focus of everything that happens here is totally centered around Christ, and I knew that was something that I wanted to be a part of. After spending time in prayer, the Lord really showed me that this is where He wants me, and I'm so grateful for that."

What was your favorite thing about Liberty's campus?

"My favorite thing about Liberty's campus is how pretty it is. It's so cool just to look out over campus and see all the mountains. I hope I'll get the opportunity to hike up them sometime."

What is your goal coming to Liberty?

"Obviously, being a part of the field hockey program, one of my goals is to grow in the game and become the best player that I can be. More importantly, though, I want to grow in my relationship with the Lord. I'm excited to be around people that I know will encourage but also challenge me to follow Christ and glorify Him in all that I do."

Head Coach Jodi Murphy on Davis:

"I am very excited to have Sara Beth continue her spiritual, academic and hockey development here at Liberty. Sara Beth has an impressive club and high school background, but more than that, her commitment to her faith is what stuck out to me the most throughout her recruitment. Sara Beth has exemplified unwavering trust in the Lord over the last year. Her adventurous spirit, persistent work ethic and hunger to be excellent will be a wonderful complement to our current team."
