Complete Notes - Games 48-50 - at No. 15 Arizona

The Games

The Liberty University Flames (28-19, 9-6 Big South) will travel acros the country to  Tucson, Ariz., to square off with the No. 15 University of Arizona Wildcats (32-11, 10-5 Pac-10) in a non-conference three-game weekend series, Friday-Sunday. The first two games of the series will be night games. Friday's contest will get underway at 10 p.m. EST, while Saturday's game is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST. The series concludes on Sunday with an afternoon contest, starting at 3 p.m. EST.

The Series Against Arizona
Friday night's contest will not be the first meeting between the Flames and Wildcats on the diamond. The two teams met in Tucson for a three-game series in 1990.  Arizona won two of the three contests from then head coach Bobby Richardson's Liberty club. The Wildcats took the first two games,  5-3 and 11-4, while the Flames captured the final game, 8-6.

The Last Time Out
Taking advantage of seven Liberty errors, the Virginia Tech Hokies downed the Flames, 12-9, Tuesday night in a non-conference contest at English Field.
David Giammaresi drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple, and Tim Nanry and Patrick Gaillard each had two hits in the contest to pace the Flames.
However, the Hokies used several of Liberty's miscues to overcome an early 6-0 deficit and rally for the win.
