Smith Discusses Dark Horse Dunker Competition

Shortly after the Liberty men's basketball team's final practice before heading to Coastal Carolina, Liberty Flames Sports Network's Alan York had a chance to catch up with senior forward Andrew Smith.

During the interview, Smith discusses the Flames win 73-60 over Campbell on Tuesday as well as his participation in the State Farm Dark Horse Dunker Competition.

First round Voting is officially underway at, as Smith is matched up against Kendall Hargrove from Mount Olive. Upon accessing the website, fans will be prompted to sign in via Twitter, Facebook or provide their email address to vote.

The State Farm Dark Horse Dunker is a bracket-style elimination competition. Opening round voting is open for one week and features eight head-to-head matchups. Winners will be announced Feb. 18 when round two opens. Voting for round two, the semi-finals and the finals also will be open one week each. The champion will be announced March 11 at and will travel to Indianapolis to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, which airs April 2 live on ESPN.

Smith and the Flames return to action on Saturday against the Chanticleers. Tipoff is slated for 3:30 p.m., with the contest broadcasting live on ESPN3.
