As the Liberty men's and women's indoor track & field squads prepare for this weekend's Liberty Quad and Samford Invitational, Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with head coach Brant Tolsma.
Before previewing this weekend's meets, Tolsma looked back at Liberty's showing at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup, where the Lady Flames placed fourth and the Flames came in eighth. Freshman Ednah Kurgat shattered the Liberty and Big South indoor women's 5K records with her winning time of 16:28.29.
Liberty is preparing to host its third and final home meet of the 2014-15 indoor season, the Liberty Quad, Friday and Saturday at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center. Meanwhile, a group of Flames and Lady Flames will travel to Birmingham, Ala., for Friday's Samford Invitational. These will be Liberty's final two competitions before the 2015 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships, which are slated for Feb. 26-27 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
