Richardson, Layer and Nangle on Flames Sports Hotline, Tonight

The Flames Sports Hotline, a weekly radio call-in show, returns to the airwaves this evening at 7 p.m. at Doc's, featuring head men's basketball coach Dale Layer, head softball coach Dot Richardson and head lacrosse coach Kelly Nangle.

For the second year in a row, the Flames Sports Hotline will air weekly on the ESPNinVA network, which includes the following ESPN Radio stations in the Central Virginia area: 93.3 FM (Lynchburg), 106.3 FM (Danville), 1240 AM (Roanoke), 1320 AM (Lynchburg) and 1350 AM (Bedford).

The weekly show is hosted locally in Lynchburg on Liberty University's campus at Doc's, and the restaurant is open to the student body and the general public. The show is broadcast live throughout the 50's-style diner and fans are encouraged to participate during the call-in segments.

Alan York, the radio play-by-play broadcaster for football and men's basketball, hosts the call-in show.

Layer and the men's basketball team (6-17, 0-10 Big South) will take to the road for a pair of games in South Carolina this week. The Flames will play at Winthrop Wednesday at 7 p.m. and at Presbyterian Friday at 7 p.m.

Richardson will open her second season as the Lady Flames' softball coach this weekend. Liberty will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala., for four games at the Sand Dollar Classic, Friday through Sunday. The Lady Flames' weekend opponents include South Alabama, Lamar, Houston Baptist and Houston

Nangle will also begin her second season at Liberty this weekend, as the Lady Flamese lacrosse team opens the 2015 campaign with a home match against Virginia Tech, Friday at 4 p.m.

Following the first few segments, York will open up the phone lines and field questions from the radio listening audience or those seated inside Doc's. Fans unable to make it out to Doc's each Monday night may call in at (877) 401-9041 to participate in the weekly show.

Those not able to participate in the call-in portion of the show can also email their questions to, prior to the start of the show.

Flames Nation fans can listen to the show locally by tuning their radio dials to any of the ESPNinVA network of stations in the Central Virginia area. The show will also air live online at and can be heard by clicking on the link above.
