Liberty will look to defend its 2014 team championship when the Flames travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., next week to participate in the Sea Best Invitational.

The event will be contested at a new venue this year and only two of the five players that helped the Flames win at last year's event are making the return trip to the "Sunshine State" this year.

This year's event will be contested at the TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course, the sister course to the world famous TPC Sawgrass – Stadium Course, the course that Liberty claimed the Sea Best Invitational title on last year.

The TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course, which opened in 1987, has hosted several notable professional golf events, including the 2013 Web.com Tour Championship and the Senior PLAYERS Championship in 1988.

The Flames have participated in the Sea Best Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville, four out of the last five years. Liberty has experienced much success at the event, claiming the title in 2014 and posting three other top five finishes.

This year's 15-team field features four top 30 ranked teams and two others ranked inside the top 50 in the final Golfstat rankings of the fall 2014 season. The field is spotlighted by No. 3 Florida State, No. 15 North Carolina and no. 28 North Florida.

Mathieu Fenasse and Harrison Winger were two of the five golfers who helped Liberty claim the title at last year's Sea Best Invitational.

Fenasse finished the 54-hole event tied for fifth place with a 6-over par 222 (74-73-75), while Winger was tied for 13th place with a 9-over par 225 (75-77-73).

Joining Fenasse and Winger as this year's event will be freshmen Adam Eineving, Isaiah Logue and Payton Taylor.

Fenasse leads the Flames on the year with a 73.33 season stroke average, followed by Logue's 74.67 stroke average. Eineving ranks third on the team with a 76.17 stroke average, followed by Winger's 78.50 stroke average.

Fenasse finished the fall season with three top 20 finishes in four events. The senior's best tournament during the fall was the Shoal Creek Invitational where he finished tied for fifth place with a 2-under par 214 (72-72-70).

Taylor was a mid-year addition to Liberty's roster, transferring from Wisconsin. The native of Vero Beach, Fla., posted a 74.88 stroke average in three events for the Badgers, including a second-place showing at the Green Bay Invitational.

The 2015 Sea Best Invitational will open with a shotgun start on Monday at 8 a.m. for 36 holes of play, followed by the final 18 holes of competition on Tuesday. Golfstat will provide live scoring for the entire two-day event.
