After recording a pair of convincing Big South Conference victories last week, the Liberty women's basketball team moved up to No. 17 in the Women's Mid-Major Top 25.

The Lady Flames, who notched wins over Longwood (70-48) and Charleston Southern (86-51), extended their winning streak to a season-best six games. Liberty is now 12-5 overall and 8-0 in Big South contests, putting the Lady Flames one game ahead of second-place High Point in the conference standings.

Liberty remains tied with Quinnipiac for the most conference victories of any NCAA Division I women's basketball team this season, as the Bobcats (No. 10 in the Mid-Major Top 25) are also 8-0 in MAAC play.

Princeton, James Madison, Green Bay, Chattanooga and Florida Gulf Coast own the top five positions in the rankings, which are made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic.

Liberty will face defending Big South tournament champion Winthrop this evening, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum. The game will be televised on the American Sports Network and the Liberty Channel.
