Former field hockey standout, Mercedes Cox, has made the jump from field hockey to lacrosse for the 2015 season. After competing for four years on the field hockey squad, the senior defender is now a senior goalkeeper for head coach Kelly Nangle and the Lady Flames lacrosse squad.
Cox was a three year letter winner and starter for the lacrosse program at Osbourn Park High School. During her three years, the team went on to win district championships in 2009 and 2010 and advancing to semifinals of the state tournament in 2011.
Cox hopes to bring her senior leadership and experience to the playing field when the Lady Flames take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in the season opener on Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
