Liberty women's soccer assistant coach Adam Godwin and senior captain Maddie Boone stopped by the Game On studio, recently, taking time to recap the 2014 season.
During the interview segment, Godwin and Boone discuss the team's journey toward a regular season title and a Big South Championship final appearance.
The Lady Flames concluded their season at 14-4-2, including an 8-1-1 mark in conference play en route to the third Big South regular season championship in program history. Entering the tournament as the No. 1 seed, Liberty reached the championship final for the second straight year. Squaring off with No. 3 seed High Point, the contest went to penalty kicks after a 2-2 tie. High Point advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4, to capture the 2014 Big South Championship.
Holly Van Noord headlined Liberty's group of 2014 all-conference honorees, earning Big South Defensive Player of the Year and becoming the first player in program history to garner the award.
In addition to Van Noord, junior midfielder Brittany Aanderud and defender Maddie Boone were selected to the conference's first team, while senior forward Alanna Dunkle and junior midfielder Rebekah Page picked up spots on the second team. Forward Jennifer Knoebel and defender Jordan Kestel were voted to the all-freshman team, and senior forward Helena Pereira garnered all-academic team honors.
