Power Rankings Liberty appeared in the national swimming & diving rankings this week, checking in at No. 47 in the CollegeSwimming.com Power Rankings.
The CollegeSwimming.com Power Rankings account for NCAA Division I teams' performances over the last month. For every meet, all individuals are objectively ranked, based on percentile of top national performances. The rankings are based on teams' top 27 swims in a meet. A total of 196 institutions sponsor Division I women's swimming.
This marks the third year in a row in which the Lady Flames have received a national ranking. Liberty finished the 2012-13 campaign ranked 37th in the Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming.com rankings, while the team opened the 2013-14 season at No. 43.
Indiana drew the top spot in the rankings, followed by two-time defending national champion Georgia. California, Louisville and LSU finish out the top five, in that order.
Liberty is one of two CCSA program to appear in the CollegeSwimming.com Power Rankings this month, as Florida Gulf Coast is ranked No. 28. Two teams against whom Liberty has competed this season, Penn State (20th) and Virginia Tech (30th) were also ranked.
The Lady Flames host Richmond today at 4 p.m. at the LaHaye Aquatics Center, in Liberty's lone home meet of the 2014-15 campaign. The meet is scheduled to be video streamed live online on the Big South Network.
