LFSN's Game On continues its weekly opponent preview series with Nick Pierce by taking a look at the Blue Hose of Presbyterian, Liberty's first road Big South opponent of the season.
Saturday will be Senior Day at Bailey Memorial Stadium and the Blue Hose will look to send off their 15-man senior class with one last home victory when they host the Flames. Presbyterian is 4-1 at home this year, which is already a program record since the Blue Hose moved up to the FCS level (2009).
The Blue Hose's defense has been strong of late, limiting its last two opponents to a combined 15 points. Presbyterian knocked off No. 23/22 Charleston Southern, 7-3, two weeks ago on the road. Last week, the Blue Hose limited a Monmouth offense that was averaging 39.0 points per game to 12 in an 18-12 victory at home to move to 2-1 in Big South play.
Presbyterian has used some opportunistic offense in 2014 to win five out of eight games. The Blue Hose have scored 18 total offensive touchdowns in eight games (19.2 points per game), compared to Liberty's 35 total offensive touchdowns in the same amount of contests (35.9 points per game).
Liberty has won the last five meetings in the series by an average of 24.6 points per game. The last time the Flames lost to the Blue Hose was on Nov. 1, 2008, when PC upset No. 17 Liberty, 31-28, at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
Game On, a 30-minute daily sports talk show produced by Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN), airs Monday through Friday on various LFSN affiliates across the country and features regular coverage of Liberty football throughout the 2014 season. LFSN is a professional network that reaches more than 85 million homes across the U.S. and other areas of the world.
