No. 1 Seed Liberty Hosts No. 8 Seed Radford in BSC Quarterfinals

2014 Big South Championship Bracket

With its 1-0 win over Longwood, Tuesday afternoon, the Liberty women's soccer team earned the No. 1 seed in the 2014 Big South Championship. The Lady Flames (12-4-1, 8-1-1 Big South) will host No. 8 seed Radford (7-9-2, 4-5-1 Big South) in the quarterfinals, Sunday at 2 p.m. The contest will stream live on the Big South Network.

The opening round matchup features the two finalists of the 2013 Big South Championship, which resulted in a 5-0 Liberty victory and the program's fourth conference title (Nov. 10, 2013). This season the Lady Flames hosted Radford on Oct. 8 at Osborne Stadium, defeating the Highlanders, 2-1, thanks to a game-winning goal in the 76th minute by leading scorer Crystal Elmers.

Along with its 8-1-1 mark in Big South play, Liberty finished the conference season with a total of 25 points.

Coastal Carolina and High Point each finished the conference season with a 7-2-1 mark for 22 points. The Chanticleers earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of a head-to-head tiebreak with the Panthers, as Coastal Carolina defeated High Point, 1-0, in double overtime on Oct. 4. Campbell earned the No. 4 seed with a 5-3-2 record for 17 points, while Gardner-Webb is the No. 5 seed after finishing the season with a 4-4-2 mark for 14 points. Winthrop, UNC Asheville and Radford each finished the 2014 campaign at 4-5-1 for 13 points. Winthrop defeated both Radford and UNC Asheville to garner the No. 6 seed. The Bulldogs defeated the Highlanders head-to-head to claim the No. 7 seed, while Radford is the No. 8 seed.

The 2014 Big South Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites this weekend on Nov. 1-2 before moving to Greensboro, N.C. for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 7 and 9. The quarterfinals and semifinals will air on the Big South Network, while the finals will air on ESPN3. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. The conference championship schedule is as follows:
