Following a fifth-place finish at the Shoal Creek Invitational earlier this week, Liberty senior golfer Mathieu Fenasse has been named this week's Big South Men's Golfer of the Week.
Fenasse posted a 2-under par 214 (72-72-70) to share fifth place with North Florida's M.J. Maguire at the par-72, 7,264-yard Shoal Creek Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.
The native of Lias, France, was one of six players in the 66-man tournament field to post a score in red figures during the final round of competition on Tuesday.
Fenasse's 2-under par 214 accounted for his first under-par tournament score since he claimed medalist honors with a 5-under par 211 at the 2013 Big South Men's Golf Championship.
The result was Fenasse's fifth career top-five tournament finish. He played all three of his rounds at par or better, giving him 32 career rounds at par or better which ranks fifth best in program history.
This marks the first Big South Men's Golfer of the Week honor in Fenasse's four-year career at Liberty.
Fenasse and the Flames will close out the fall portion of their 2014-15 schedule on Oct. 11-12 at the Rod Myers Invitational. The 54-hole event is hosted by Duke at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
