Just as she did in 2013, Jacy Christiansen earned the Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor with her performance at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational.
For the second year in a row, Liberty senior Jacy Christiansen has been tabbed the Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on the heels of a standout performance at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. Christiansen was also named the Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Oct. 2, 2013 after her effort at the 2013 Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. On Friday, Christiansen placed 23rd out of 85 runners in the women's 6K race at Panorama Farms. She broke the 22:00 barrier for the second time in her career, with her time of 21:58.54 putting Christiansen 48 seconds and 18 positions ahead of her nearest Big South competitor in the race. Christiansen's performance helped the Lady Flames place ninth as a team, one place ahead of Big South rival High Point. This came two weeks after High Point had won the Gardner-Webb XC Invitational title in a race where Liberty finished third. Christiansen will be part of Liberty's group which will race at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The men's 8K blue race will begin at 10:45 a.m., followed by the women's 5K blue race at 11:30 at the site of the 2014 NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships. Other Liberty runners will head to Greensboro, N.C., for Saturday's Hagan Stone Classic. The men's 8K will start at 9:30 a.m. and the women's 5K is set for 10:15 a.m.
