The Liberty Lady Flames extended its win streak to four with a 5-0 victory over the Ohio Bobcats, Friday at Liberty Field Hockey Field. For the first time this season, the Lady Flames held an opponent off the scoreboard.

With the shutout victory, Liberty runs its record to 5-4 on the season while the Bobcats fall to 2-5.

The Lady Flames jumped on the board in the 15th minute of the game when Serena Barr found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Hannah Doherty set up the first goal, passing the ball to the middle from the right side of the net. Barr capitalized on the one timer giving Liberty the early 1-0 lead.

The score remained the same until the first minute of the second half when Sarah Gipe recorded her sixth goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0. Following a foul, Cassidy Bremner threw the ball in front of the goal, where Gipe was waiting to flick the ball in. Gipe poked her stick out, deflecting the ball into the back right corner. Gipe has now scored in five games in a row, a feat that only teammate Natalie Barr has accomplished, doing so last season.

Liberty tacked on three more goals in the final 24 minutes of the game, including a goal by Hannah Goldsborough in the 67th minute, her first of the season. Rachel Suter and Bethany Barr each recorded a goal; their second of the season, to cap off the 5-0 victory.

Ohio tallied just one shot on goal in the 11th minute of the game. Hannah Jones anchored Liberty's defense, leading the Lady Flames to their first shutout of the 2014 campaign.

Junior goalie Mallory Cuccio notched one save today, bringing her total to 40 and edging closer to her season best of 43.

Liberty outshot the Bobcats 28-2, including an 8-1 shots on goal advantage.

The Lady Flames return to action Sunday when they host the No. 11 Louisville Cardinals at 1 p.m. at Liberty Field Hockey Field. Sunday's meeting marks the second ranked ACC opponent of the season. Liberty is 1-0 against the ACC this season, with the one victory over then No. 12 Wake Forest.
