Mercedes Cox and the Lady Flames continue their homestand this weekend then they host Ohio on Friday and No. 11 Louisville on Sunday.
The Lady Flames field hockey team continues its home stretch today, hosting the Ohio Bobcats at Liberty Field Hockey Field. Today's contest is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Flames will follow up today's matchup with their second ranked ACC opponent in one week, as the No. 11 Louisville Cardinals come to town, Sunday at 1 p.m.

A Glance at Liberty Liberty enters the weekend with a 4-4 record (1-0 NorPac), following their weekend sweep of then No. 12 Wake Forest and Missouri State. In their first contest of the weekend against the Demon Deacons, the Lady Flames pulled off the upset, when Ashlee Krulock netted the game-winning goal in the closing minutes. Sunday's contest saw an explosion of goals, Liberty notched its third win in a row following a 7-1 victory over the Bears.
Sarah Gipe continues to lead the offense, scoring three goals this past weekend and running her goal total up to five, all in the last four games. Gipe leads the team in goals as well as points with 11. Krulock leads the team in assist with four and is second on the team in points with 10. Junior goalie Mallory Cuccio has 39 saves on the season, edging closer to her single season record of 43 set back in 2012.
A Glance at the Bobcats Ohio finished the 2013 season with a 7-10 record, before falling to Miami (Ohio) in the first round of the MAC championship. The Bobcats come into this weekend with a 2-4 record following a 1-0 loss against then No. 17 Indiana in their most recent contest. Ohio was picked to finish fourth in the MAC conference standings this year. Today's contest will be the first ever meeting between the Bobcats and Lady Flames.
A Glance at the Cardinals Louisville concluded the 2013 season ranked No. 14 with a 15-5 record, before falling to No. 5 Old Dominion in the Big East Semifinals by a score of 2-0. The Cardinals come into this weekend with a 7-1 record and are nationally ranked at No. 11.
The Cardinals will look to improve their record, facing No. 16 Wake Forest before coming into Lynchburg on Sunday. Louisville enters the weekend winners of three in a row, including a 3-2 victory over No. 1 North Carolina. Liberty and Louisville will square off Sunday at 1 p.m. for the first ever meeting between the two squads.
A Look Ahead The Lady Flames conclude their home stand next week, squaring off against Longwood on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Five days later Liberty will host NorPac foe Appalachian State in a conference matchup starting at 1 p.m.
