Gipe Named NorPac Offensive Player of the Week

Liberty forward Sarah Gipe has been named NorPac Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, for contests played from Sept. 15-22.

Gipe, a native of Greencastle, Pa., earns her second Offensive Player of the Week honor. Gipe last garnered the award on Sept. 24, 2012 and is the first Lady Flame to receive the award since Natalie Barr on Nov. 4, 2013.

Gipe has been on a scoring spree lately, netting five goals in the team's last four games. Gipe scored three goals this past weekend, leading her team to two key wins and bringing the team's record back to .500. Gipe netted her first goal of the weekend in Friday's 2-1 victory over No. 12 Wake Forest. Two days later, Gipe capped off the weekend with two more goals en route to a 7-1 victory over Missouri State.

For the season, Gipe leads the team in goals with five and in points with 11. Following Gipe's offensive performance this past weekend she now has 25 goals in her career, edging closer to teammate Natalie Barr for the Liberty Field Hockey all-time leading goal scoring record.

The Offensive Player of the Week will look to help extend the Lady Flames' winning streak this weekend as they play host to Ohio on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Gipe looks to lead Liberty past its second ACC opponent of the season when No. 11 Louisville comes into town Sunday at 1 p.m.
