After the Liberty men's and women's teams previewed the Big South Cross Country Championships course at Saturday's Gardner-Webb XC Invitational, head coach Brant Tolsma chatted about the meet with Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network.

The Liberty men's squad totaled 49 points, finishing second to High Point (28). The Flames were led by freshman Titus Koech, who placed third overall in his collegiate debut, and junior Sam Hibbs, who finished fifth on the soggy 8K course.

The Lady Flames tallied 67 points, placing third in the team standings behind champion High Point (41) and runner-up Coastal Carolina (50). Senior Jacy Christiansen came in third to pace the team in the 5K race.

After taking this weekend off from competition, Liberty will compete in its second meet of the season at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va., on Sept. 26. The Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational will feature a women's 6K race at 10 a.m. and a men's 8K at 11.
