Live Stats The Liberty women's soccer team concludes its four-game homestand on Tuesday, when it hosts George Mason at 2 p.m. The Lady Flames look for their second straight win and their first-ever against the Patriots.
The matchup is just the second all-time between the two squads and the first since 2004. In the previous meeting, George Mason edged Liberty in overtime, 1-0.
A similar result in favor of either team would produce an unprecedented moment for the Lady Flames. Each of Liberty's first six contests have been decided by one goal apiece, a feat that was duplicated once before in 2011, when the Lady Flames had six consecutive games decided by one goal or less. If the current trend continues on Tuesday, it would be the first time Liberty has had seven straight contests decided by one goal or less.

Liberty's Last Time Out Senior forward Alanna Dunkle netted the game winning goal, Thursday afternoon at Osborne Stadium, as the Liberty women's soccer team bested Davidson, 1-0.
Dunkle's second marker of the season occurred off a Rebekah Page assist in the 63rd minute. The Hummelstown, Pa., native is now tied with fellow forward Crystal Elmers for the team lead in goals, this season.
Liberty goalkeeper Holly Van Noord collected her third shutout of the season, giving her 17 for her collegiate career. The netminder finished with two saves. Rachel Locke played the entire contest in the net for the Wildcats, making four saves.
With the win, Liberty moved to 3-3 on the year, while Davidson fell to 3-4. The Lady Flames have now won back-to-back meetings against the Wildcats.
George Mason at a Glance The Patriots enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-5 record. George Mason is coming off a 2-0 win over common opponent Appalachian State on Sunday. The Mountaineers edged the Lady Flames in overtime on Aug. 31, 4-3.
Five different Patriots each have a goal on the year – Kelly Pizzingilli, Sara Hardison, Kaila Williams, Emily Harvey and Liz Agiato. Sydney Mitchell leads the team with three assists.
Briana Kotter has started all seven games in the net for the Patriots. She enters the contest with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .519 save percentage.
Just for Kicks - Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Holly Van Noord is also looking to climb the Liberty record books. After setting a single-season program and conference record with 14 shutouts in 2013, Van Noord added to her career total with a shutout performance versus ODU. The netminder (17) now needs four more shutouts to claim Liberty's all-time record, currently held by Karen Blocker (20). This season, Van Noord is third in the conference in goals-against average (0.95) and leads the Big South in shutouts.
Last year, Van Noord was voted Big South All-Conference second team, VaSID All-State Rookie of the Year and NSCAA All-Region third team. She concluded the year 23rd in the country in save percentage (.850) and 31st in goals-against average (0.72), while leading the conference in both categories.
- Maddie Boone continues to be a lynchpin for the Lady Flames defense, this season. The Nicholasville, Ky., native earned Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 25 for her performance during Liberty's 1-0 shutout win over Old Dominion. Boone was a second team Big South All-Conference defender during the 2013 campaign.
- After posting 10 assists during the 2013 season, junior Brittany Aanderud is chasing Liberty's all-time assist record held by Nancy Davis (20). After posting a helper during Liberty's season-opening victory over ODU, Aanderud (17) needs four more to obtain sole possession of the record. In 2013, Aanderud earned first team all-conference, VaSID All-State and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) second team all-region honors, while also being voted Big South Tournament MVP.
- Head coach Jessica Hain is in her sixth season with the program. Hain is coming off the most memorable season of her coaching tenure at Liberty, guiding the program to its fourth Big South Championship and first since 2005.
- Liberty has been unanimously voted the preseason favorite in the Big South Conference women's soccer preseason poll by the league's head coaches. The Lady Flames collected all 11 first-place votes and 121 total points, and are the preseason favorite for the first time since 2010 and sixth time overall.
