Field Hockey to Play Lafayette & Penn, This Weekend

The Lady Flames field hockey team will travel to Pennsylvania this weekend. The Lady Flames will take on the Lafayette Leopards on Friday at Rappolt Field in Easton, Pa. The contest is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.  Liberty will then travel to Philadelpha to square off with the Penn Quakers on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. 

How to Follow the Lady Flames
Live stats will be available for both contests by clicking the appropriate link on the field hockey schedule/results panel of The live stats and video will be provided by the Lafayette Media Relations office on Friday, and by Penn on Sunday. Live video for Sunday's game will be available for a nominal fee.

A Glance at Liberty
The Lady Flames come into this weekend with a 1-3 record (1-0 NorPac) following their two two-game home stand this previous weekend. Liberty was edged by the VCU Rams, 2-1 on Friday. Nicole Simms scored the lone goal for the Lady Flames. Liberty had a similar outcome on Sunday, as their comeback fell short against the then ranked No. 9 Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. Freshman forward Alynn Richardson recorded her first collegiate goal in the loss.

Five different Lady Flames have scored a goal. Ashlee Krulock, Hannah Doherty and Hannah Jones join Richardson and Simms with a goal in 2014. Krulock and Doherty lead Liberty with three points each.

A Glance at the Leopards
Lafayette finished the 2013 season with a 6-12 record, falling to American in the Patriot League Tournament. The Leopards enter the weekend with a 3-1 mark, following their first setback of the season against Rutgers, by a score of 2-1 on Sept. 7. Lafayette picked up a key win to start the season, knocking off then ranked No. 13 Boston College by a score of 4-2. Friday will mark the first home game of the season for Lafayette as well as the first time the Lady Flames have met the Leopards.

A Glance at the Quakers
Penn is coming off a successful season with a 13-4 record and 5-2 Ivy League mark. The Quakers fell in the Ivy League Championship to No. 9 Princeton to conclude their 2013 campaign. Penn enters the weekend with a 1-1 record, and will look for their second win of the season against Fairfield on Friday. In their most recent contest, the Quakers were shutout at home in a 1-0 loss to Bucknell at Ellen Vagelos Field in Philadelphia, Pa. The Lady Flames look to even the series against the Quakers. The last time the two teams squared off Penn won a high scoring contest by a score of 5-4 at Liberty Field Hockey Field in 2012.

A Look Ahead
The Lady Flames return home next weekend for its longest home stretch of the season. Liberty will play six home games, before hitting the road on Oct. 10. To start the home stand, Liberty will square off against No. 10 Wake Forest on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at the Liberty Field Hockey Field. Two days later the Lady Flames will host Missouri State in a contest starting at 1 p.m.
