Freshman Hannah Weidner led all players with 24 kills during Tuesday's Blue-White Scrimmage at the Schilling Center.
The White Team hit .292 on the way to a 4-1 win (31-29, 25-18, 25-16, 25-23, 13-15) over the Blue Team, in Liberty volleyball's annual Blue-White Scrimmage, Tuesday at the Schilling Center. A total of seven Lady Flames recorded 10 or more kills, led by 24 by Hannah Weidner. Weidner also added five blocks and tied for the match high with two aces. Caroline Douglas hit .340 in sending down 20 kills. Nzea McQuitery recorded 13 kills at a .429 pace, and was one of three Lady Flames with six blocks on the evening. Gabrielle Vess and Melissa Racz both chipped in 12 kills, with Racz hitting .440 and Vess contributing six blocks. Jade Vorster also added 12 kills and three blocks. Sirena Vorster hit .350 with 11 kills and three blocks, rounding out Liberty's double-digit kill players. Anna Willey led all players with 53 assists, adding 17 digs for a double-double. Caila Stapleton contributed 51 assists, while Susan Babcock had six blocks. Gabrielle Shipe collected a match-high 18 digs, while Haley Jeffcoat totaled 16 digs and Allie Reynolds and Maribeth Kern had 11 digs apiece. Kern also registered nine kills and four blocks. The Lady Flames open up their 2014 regular-season schedule on Friday, taking on San Jose State on Friday at 4:30 p.m., to begin the Elon Phoenix Classic.
