2014 GCAA All-Academic Team
Liberty was one of 141 collegiate golf teams recently named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All?Academic Team listing.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the grade point averages (GPA) for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
This is the second year in a row Liberty's golf team has qualified for the team and the fourth time in the last five years (2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014).
Golf was one of 14 Liberty Athletics programs to post a 3.00 or higher GPA, with the Flames finishing the 2013-14 academic year with a 3.08 team GPA.
The golf team's success in the classroom this year helped the overall athletics department post the highest cumulative GPA in department history (3.13).
Recently, the GCAA honored two of Liberty's golfer individually for their efforts off the golf course when junior Mathieu Fenasse and senior Ian McConnell were named to the 2014 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars Team.
The Flames had another successful season on the course, as well, claiming their third Big South title in the last four years and advancing to NCAA Regional play for the fourth season in a row. Liberty finished the year ranked No. 35 in the country by Golfstat and No. 38 by Golfweek.
