The Liberty women's basketball team departed Lynchburg Wednesday morning for a once-in-a-lifetime road trip. The Lady Flames will spend the next two weeks in Israel, touring the Holy Land and competing against international opponents in the Friendship Games.
The Lady Flames' returning players will be making the trip, none of whom were part of Liberty's previous Israel tour in 2010.
As was the case four years ago, the team will spend the first part of the trip visiting numerous Christian landmarks, including Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, the Jordan River, the Mount of Olives, Gethsemane and the Garden Tomb.
The Lady Flames will then play in the international Friendship Games tournament in Eilat, Israel, June 10-17. In 2010, Liberty captured the Friendship Games championship with a perfect 5-0 record.
