The ACC and ESPN released their broadcasting plans for the first three weeks of the upcoming college football season earlier today, which included a game time and network coverage for Liberty's season opener at North Carolina.
The Flames will open up the 2014 season at North Carolina on Aug. 30 with kickoff set for 6 p.m. at Kenan Stadium. The first-ever meeting between the two teams will be broadcast on ESPN3.
This will mark the fourth season in a row the Flames have opened the year on the road against an FBS opponent and the game has been covered exclusively by ESPN3 (2011 – N.C. State, 2012 – Wake Forest, 2013 – Kent State and 2014 – North Carolina).
The Tar Heels are coming off a 7-6 record in 2013, which included a 39-17 season-ending victory over Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, N.C.
Liberty finished the 2013 season with an 8-4 record and claimed its sixth Big South title in the last season years. The Flames wrapped up the season and share of the conference crown with a 56-14 road win over No. 18/16 Charleston Southern.
