Dawn Jeffs has been named this week's Big South Choice Hotels Softball Player of the Week.

For the second week in a row, the Lady Flames had a player selected Big South Choice Hotels Softball Player of the Week as Dawn Jeffs garnered the award which was announced by the league today.

Jeffs (Sr., 2B, Roseville, Calif.) put together a stellar week, helping Liberty to a 6-2 record over the last seven days. Jeffs batted .517 (15-for-29), with nine runs scored, three doubles, five home runs, eight RBI and a 1.138 slugging percentage. Eight out of Jeffs' 15 hits fell for extra bases and the senior hit safely in seven out of eight games.

Jeffs started the week by going a combined 3-for-6 when Liberty faced No. 1 Tennessee last Monday. The senior was 2-for-3 in the first game and 1-for-3 in the second, with five out of her six at-bats coming against three-time All-American pitcher Monica Abbott.

In Liberty's first home games of the year, Jeffs was a combined 5-for-7 with four runs scored, three RBI, two doubles and two home runs during a pair of victories over Norfolk State, last Wednesday.

Over the weekend, the Flames hosted the Blue Ridge Thunder Softball Tournament, featuring Georgetown and in-state opponent Hampton. During Liberty's 10-1 win over Georgetown, Jeffs was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, four RBI and two home runs.
Later in the day, Jeffs was 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs against Hampton, giving the senior her fourth-straight game with a round tripper.

Jeffs capped off the weekend by going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double, helping Liberty to a 4-3 win over Hampton in the title game of the two-day event.

On the season, Jeffs leads the Lady Flames as she is batting .444 with 30 runs scored, nine doubles, 10 home runs and a .754 slugging percentage. Jeffs has successfully recorded at least one hit in 29 out of 35 games this year and the senior paces the Lady Flames with 22 multiple-hit games.

Jeffs and the Lady Flames return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va., to take on James Madison in their final tune-up before opening conference action next weekend at Winthrop. First pitch of the doubleheader against the Dukes is scheduled for 2 p.m.
