Prior to the Flames leaving for Ninety Six, S.C., LFSN reporter Nick Pierce had a chance to catch up with Liberty's men's golf program to preview this week's championship event.
During the interview, Pierce visited with senior golfers Chase Marinell and Niklas Lindstrom and Flames' Head Men's Golf Coach Jeff Thomas.
Marinell and Lindstrom will look to lead the Flames to their third title in four years at the 2014 Big Men's Golf Championship. For the ninth time in the last 10 years, the conference championship event will be contested at The Patriot Golf Club (par 72, 7,120 yards).
Marinell and Lindstrom were both part of Liberty's championship squad in 2012, while Marinell helped the Flames capture the program's first conference title in 2011 during his freshman season.
The three-day, 54-hole event begins on Monday at 8:30 a.m. The Flames are the No. 1 seed in the championship for the fourth year in a row. The winner of the event will receive the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
