The No. 3 seed Liberty women's tennis team embarks on its quest to capture its first ever Big South title on Wednesday with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 6 seed Radford at 2:30 p.m.
Prior to departing for the site of this year's tournament, Boiling Springs, N.C., Lady Flames' head coach Jeff Maren and junior All-Conference doubles performer Brittany Yang had a chance to talk with LFSN's Nick Pierce. During the interview, Maren and Yang discuss the team's play heading into the tournament and the matchup against the Highlanders.
Liberty and Radford most recently faced off against each other on April 2, with the Lady Flames coming away with a 6-1 victory on the road. Liberty is 9-7 all-time against the Highlanders and has won each of the last five meetings between the Commonwealth schools, including a 4-0 shutout in the first round of the 2011 Big South tournament.
If the Lady Flames advance past Radford, they will face the winner of match No. 5, which features No. 2 seed Winthrop against No. 7 seed UNC Asheville. Liberty fell to the Eagles, 6-1, on March 22, before bouncing back with a 7-0 shutout of the Bulldogs in its next match on March 28.
