The Liberty women's tennis team concluded the regular season on Friday, winning its sixth consecutive match, 6-1, over the Richmond Spiders on Senior Day at the Hershey Tennis Courts. Prior to the contest, the Lady Flames honored their three seniors, Annisha Domenech, Rebekah Jenkins and Cameron Richard.

Liberty's first win in four matches all-time against Richmond improves its record to 14-8 overall and 5-1 in home tilts. The 14 victories are the second most wins ever in a single season in program history. The Lady Flames will have a chance to tie the all-time record of 15, which was set in 2011, during next week's Big South Conference tournament. The loss drops the Spiders to 6-12 overall on the season.

The Lady Flames jumped out to a quick 1-0 advantage with wins in the No. 3 and No. 2 doubles positions. Richard and Valerie Thong won their ninth straight match, besting Richmond's Elizabeth Sims and Denny Lamachia, 8-3. Brittany Yang and Domenech followed with an 8-2 victory over Brittany Boys and Katya Salas.

In the No. 1 spot, Liberty's Jenkins and Maria Khval fell to Anna Abadias Morales and Melissa Kandinata, 8-5.

Yang upped the Lady Flames' lead to 2-0 with her fourth consecutive singles win and 13th overall of the season. The junior downed Kandinata, 6-1, 6-4, in the No. 4 position.

After Boys ousted Jenkins, 6-3, 6-1, Liberty's Nicola Wellman delivered her team-leading 14th win of the year, knocking off Kelsey Williams, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6. The victory propels Wellman into the Big South tournament with a team-best eight match unbeaten streak.

Mariely Hassey notched the clinching point for the Lady Flames, defeating Salas, 6-4, 6-0, in the No. 5 spot.

Liberty wrapped up the 6-1 victory with wins in the No. 3 and No. 1 positions. Khval downed Sims by identical 6-3, 6-3 scores, upping the freshman's record to 12-7 this season. Rivera ousted Abadias Morales, 7-5, 6-3, for her 13th win of the year.

"I couldn't be more proud of our girls," commented Liberty head coach Jeff Maren. "They all played with such composure and energy today. Our seniors were an inspiration to us as everyone stepped up and competed well. This will certainly help us as we head to tournament play next week."

The Lady Flames will next compete in the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Championship, which begins next week at Gardner-Webb. Seedings and the schedule for the tournament will be released on Sunday.
