LibertyFlames.com continues its coverage of spring practice today with LFSN reporter Alan York visiting with Flames' offensive coordinator Aaron Stamn.
The third-year coordinator will have most of his offensive arsenal back in 2014, as Liberty's offense returns nine starters from last year's Big South championship unit.
Liberty finished last year ranked No. 16 in the country in scoring offense, as the Flames averaged 37.3 points per game. Liberty also made wise use of the ball inside the red zone, scoring on 48 of 55 drives to enter the opponents red zone, ranking the Flames No. 13 in the country in red zone offense.
All-Big South quarterback Josh Woodrum is a rising junior and he had the second-best sophomore passing season in program history in 2013 (2,581 yards and 19 touchdowns). Rising senior Desmond Rice finished with the second-most rushing touchdown in program history (16), while rushing for a career-best 967 yards.
All three of Liberty's top wide receivers return for 2014, including junior Darrin Peterson (825 yards, 7 TDs), senior Gabe Henderson (641 yards, 3 TDs) and sophomore Dante Shells (432 yards, 1 TD).
On the practice field this week, the Flames will hold two midweek practices on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon before they host their annual Spring Football Game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williams Stadium.
