Quick Hits • Liberty enters the week, having won seven in a row and 15 out of its last 16 games. • This past weekend, the Flames swept a three-game series at Presbyterian College to run their Big South Conference record to 8-1. The Flames lead the conference's North Division standings. • Liberty did not give up a run during their series at Presbyterian College and has not allowed a run over the its last 33 innings. • Liberty finished the month of March with a 17-2 mark (.895). In addition, the Flames have recorded a 18-2 (.900) over its last 20 games. • The Flames are 11-3 at home in 2014 and has won nine out of their last 10 home games. • With their weekend sweep at Presbyterian College, the Flames have won seven-straight road contests and have now posted a 10-4 record away from home this season. • Liberty's game at Maryland was an addition to its schedule. The Terrapins and the Flames met twice last season. Maryland took both games. Player Notes • RHP Trey Lambert ran his record to 6-1, this past Friday. Lambert has won his last five starts and leads the Big South Conference in wins. • Lambert pitched a one-hit complete-game shutout at Presbyterian College, last Friday. He struck out seven and completed the shutout by retiring the last 14 batters, earning Big South Pitcher of the Week honors fro March 24-20 • 2B Ryan Seiz was named the Big South Player of the Week for March 24-30. It is the second time, he has received the honor this season. • Seiz hit .571 with eight hits and four RBI to lead the Flames to a series sweep against Presbyterian College, this past weekend. • Seiz continues to lead the Flames in batting average (.435), runs (30), RBIs (26), home runs (6), on base percentage (.523) and slugging percentage (.750). • He is currently leads the Big South Conference in batting average, runs scored, RBIs, slugging percentage and total bases (81) • LHP Shawn Clowers was named the Big South Co-Pitcher of the Week for March 17-23. The reliever did not allow a run in 10 2/3 scoreless innings, recording two wins. • RHP Ashton Perritt is tied for the Big South Conference lead with seven saves. • LHP Jared Lyons shut out Old Dominion during the first nine innings, the longest outing of his career, 3/19. The LHP scattered four hits, striking out five batters and walking one. • Lyons leads the Flames with 0.51 ERA and is tied with RHP Carson Herndon for the team lead with 32 strikeouts. Currently, he is second in the Big South Conference in ERA and leads in opponent batting average (.145). • 1B Alex Close hit two home runs this past weekend, upping his total for the year to four. He is second in the Big South Conference with 25 RBIs and ranks seventh in slugging percentage (.509) • SS Dalton Britt has started every game this season, spending time at both shortstop and third base. He has started 11 of his last 12 games at shortstop. • 3B Dylan Allen is hitting .400 with runners in scoring position to lead the Flames. • Allen went 3-for-3 and scored two runs in 8-0 win over Presbyterian, Saturday. It was the second three-hit game of his career. On 3/14, Allen went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored in win over Campbell. • C Danny Grauer had three hits, including his fourth home run of the season, Sunday at Presbyterian College. • Grauer had a 12-game hitting streak, the longest hit streak by a Flame this season. • The C is tied for fifth in home runs (4), fifth in RBIs (21) and sixth in slugging percentage. (.510) in the Big South Conference. • OF Nick Lacik is tied for third in the Big South Conference in walks (19) and runs scored (24). • RHP Carson Herndon pitched six scoreless innings in 8-0 win over Presbyterian College, this past Saturday. He allowed two hits and struck out six batters. • RHP Parker Bean pitched six scoreless innings in 8-0 victory over Presbyterian College, Sunday. He struck out a career-high seven batters.
Seiz, Lambert Earn Weekly Conference Awards • Liberty's Ryan Seiz has been named the Big South Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while teammate Trey Lambert was tabbed Pitcher of the Week for games played March 24-30, Monday. • Seiz hit .571 with eight hits and four RBI to lead the Flames to a series sweep against Presbyterian College, this past weekend. • The 2B had three hits in each of Liberty's victories on Friday and Sunday. Friday each of his three hits were doubles. • Seiz had a pair of hits, three RBI, a double and his team-leading sixth home run of the year in Liberty's 8-0 win, Saturday. • It is his second Big South Player of the Week nod this season. • Lambert posted a one-hit complete game shutout win over Presbyterian, Friday. • In the rainy conditions, the right-hander struck out seven hitters with no walks. The only hit he allowed was a two-out double in the first inning, as he held the PC hitters to a .033 average. He retired the last 14 hitters he faced to close out the contest. • The honor is his first Big South Pitcher of the Week plaudit this season and the second of this career. Moving Out in March • Liberty completed the month of March with a 17-2 record (.895). • Liberty pitching posted a 1.32 ERA and held its opponents to a .190 batting average during March. Flames' opponents averaged 1.6 runs per game during the month. • The Flames hit .309 and averaged 6.7 runs per game during the month of March. • Liberty won a season-high eight straight contests from March 2 to March 15. • The Flames have won 15 out of their last 16 during the month.
