Rebekah Jenkins recorded a singles and doubles win on Friday against UNC Asheville.
The Liberty women's tennis team posted its first conference sweep of the season, rolling past the visiting UNC Asheville Bulldogs, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Sports Racket.
The Lady Flames improve to 9-8 on the season and 4-2 in Big South tilts. Liberty extends its winning streak against the Bulldogs to four matches. UNC Asheville's record drops to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Lady Flames blitzed through the doubles matches, posting a sweep for the second time in the last three matches. Belen Rivera and Brittany Yang dominated Christine Boissevain and Amryn Soldier, 8-2, in the No. 1 position, improving the duo to a team-best 7-3 this season.
Cameron Richard and Valerie Thong ran their winning streak to four matches with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 over Emily McNall and Gillian Lewis to clinch the point for Liberty.
The Lady Flames' No. 1 tandem of Rebekah Jenkins and Maria Khval capped the sweep by doubling up Ericka Rivero and Zoe Hamel, 8-4.
Liberty continued its strong play with straight-set wins in the No. 5, 4 and 3 singles positions. Nicola Wellman improved to a team-best 11-4 on the season with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No. 5 spot against McNall. The junior upped her record in Big South contests to 5-1.
