Lacrosse Heads to the City of Brotherly Love to Face La Salle

After playing its last two games at home, the Liberty lacrosse team opens a five-match road stretch on Saturday with a contest at Atlantic 10 member La Salle. First draw against the Explorers is set for 11 a.m. at McCarthy Stadium.

Series Against La Salle
The Lady Flames and the Explorers will be meeting for the first time ever on Saturday. La Salle is the fourth team from the A-10 on Liberty's schedule this season. The Lady Flames also faced Richmond (Feb. 7), George Washington (Feb. 26) and George Mason (March 5), falling in each contest.

Last Time Out
Trailing 9-6 midway through the second half, Old Dominion scored the final five goals of the game to earn an 11-9 victory over Liberty this past Sunday afternoon at Liberty Lacrosse Field. Sam Struss, Morgan Becker and Kelly Belue paced the Lady Flames with two goals apiece.

Strong Between the Pipes
In Sunday's matchup with the Monarchs, Liberty goalkeeper Kristen Masullo posted a season-high 17 saves and a .428 save percentage. The 17 saves were the third most in a contest in Masullo's career and the most since posting 18 saves on March 1, 2011 versus St. Francis (Pa.).

Climbing up the Record Books
Senior Nina Dunay is closing in on several Liberty career records. The attacker currently ranks second in program history in goals (86), 12 behind Kristin Crowley's all-time record of 98. In career points, Dunay trails Crowley's record of 114 by just four and has 11 fewer shots than Crowley at 181 to 170.

Previewing the Lady Flames
Liberty (1-6) looks to halt its three-game losing streak and pick up its first road win of the season on Saturday at La Salle. The Lady Flames are 0-4 away from Liberty Mountain this year. Liberty will play its next five games on the road before returning home on April 11 against defending Big South champion High Point. 

Three Lady Flames, Sam Struss (21), Nina Dunay (12) and Kallie Britton (10), have tallied double-digit point totals this season. Struss leads the way with 18 goals and three assists and is just one goal away from tying her career high which she set last season. Britton is the team leader in assists (6) and ground balls (18). Dunay has caused 13 turnovers to lead Liberty, while Morgan Becker ranks first on the squad with 21 draw controls.

Goalkeeper Kristen Masullo has started each of the Lady Flames first seven contests and holds a 15.89 goals-against average. The senior has 68 saves and a .428 save percentage.

Previewing the Explorers
La Salle (3-3) started the season 3-0, but has suffered defeats in each of its last three games. Most recently, the Explorers fell at home to Drexel, 10-8, yesterday.

Caitlyn Brostrand (13 goals, 2 assists) and Katelyn Fay (12 goals, 3 assists) are tied for the team lead in points with 15. Brostrand also leads the team in draw controls with nine. Kelly Furman has scooped up a team-high 12 ground balls, while Maggie O'Ferrall and Kaitlin Colbridge pace the squad with six caused turnovers each.

Gabby Antonelli has played all but 2:42 in between the pipes for the Explorers. The goalkeeper has a .457 save percentage and an 8.56 goals-against average.

Looking Ahead
The Lady Flames trek to the opposite side of Pennsylvania for their next contest on March 22, facing Robert Morris at 3 p.m.
