Lady Flames Host Old Dominion on Sunday Afternoon

The Liberty lacrosse team closes its short two-game home stand on Sunday afternoon, welcoming the Old Dominion Monarchs to Liberty Lacrosse Field for a 1 p.m. contest.

Series Against Old Dominion
Sunday's matchup will be the first ever meeting between the Lady Flames and the Monarchs on the lacrosse field.

Last Time Out
On Wednesday, Liberty was upended at home by George Mason, 16-8. The loss was the Lady Flames first setback of the season at Liberty Lacrosse Field.

Sam Struss and Morgan Becker led the Lady Flames with two goals apiece. It was Struss' fifth multiple-goal game of the season. Struss also led the way with a contest-best five draw controls. Kallie Britton had a game-high five ground balls, while Nina Dunay caused three turnovers to lead both squads.

Previewing the Lady Flames
Liberty (1-5) has dropped its last two contests, both which have come against Atlantic 10 opponents. Following Sunday's game, the Lady Flames take to the road for their next five matches, before playing their next home contest on April 11 versus High Point. With a win against the Monarchs, Liberty would improve to 2-1 at home this season.

Sam Struss is the Lady Flames' top scorer through the first six games. The junior has 18 points on 16 goals and two assists. Struss is a team-best 8 of 12 on free-position opportunities. Nina Dunay has a team-best caused turnovers and ranks second on the squad in 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists), ground balls (14) and draw controls (12). Kallie Britton is the team leader in assists with five and ground balls with 16. 

Kristen Masullo has started each of Liberty's first six games in goal.  The senior has amassed 51 saves, a .389 save percentage and a 16.92 goals-against average.

Previewing the Monarchs
Old Dominion (1-4) enters Sunday's matchup with Liberty looking to end a two-game losing skid. Last time out, the Monarchs fell 9-5 at Richmond, a team which the Lady Flames lost to in their season-opener, 16-7.

Jessica Liberty is the team leader in goals (7), assists (7) and points (14). Emily Austerberry and Ashmore Standing are tied with Liberty for the most goals on the squad with seven apiece. Austerberry tops the squad in draw controls with nine.

Goalkeeper Karen Hayde has a team-best 13 ground balls. Hayde has split time in between the pipes with Maggi Buckley. Hayde has a team-high 30 saves, while Buckley leads the way with a .529 save percentage and a 12.13 goals-against average.  

Looking Ahead
Liberty takes to the road next weekend for a matchup at La Salle on March 15. The nonconference contest is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
