The Games
   The Liberty University Flames (12-7, 0-0 Big South) will open Big South Conference play this weekend by hosting the UNC Asheville Bulldogs (5-14, 0-0 Big South) in a three-game series at Worthington Stadium, Saturday-Monday, March 17-19.
 The series will begin on Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by single games on both Sunday  and Monday. Game time on Sunday is slated for 1 p.m. with Monday's game to be announced.
The Series Against UNC Asheville
  Saturday's contest will the 46th meeting with the Flames holding a 31-14 advantage in the all-time series since the two teams first met in 1986. Last season, the Bulldogs posted a 4-1 against Liberty, including two contests in the 2006 Big South Championship. UNC Asheville took two of the three regular season meetings with the Flames in Asheville, before handing Liberty its first loss of the Big South Championship with a 4-1 score.  The Bulldogs then rallied for a come-from-behind 16-11 victory in the Big South Baseball Championship final. 

The Last Time Out
   Despite out-hitting James Madison, 14-10, the Flames fell 8-3 to the host Dukes. Four different James Madison batters hit their first home runs of the season in the victory.
   Liberty's Tommy Bussey went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while teammates Phil John and Aaron Grijalva were 3-for-5 in the contest.
   Starter Andrew Wilson, making his first start of the season, dropped to 0-1, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Flames on the Radio
  This season, the Flames Sports Network plans to broadcast 20 Liberty baseball regular season games. Games will air live on WWMC 90.9 FM "The Light" and on the World Wide Web at both and The station plans an extra broadcast for Sunday, March 19 against UNC Asheville. The broadcast is slated to begin around 12:50 p.m.
