Liberty Athletics Top 10 Moments of 2013: No. 4

Video Views: 11435 continues its countdown of the Top 10 Moments of 2013 for Liberty Athletics today, looking at No. 4, Shea Thomas and Jorge Azuero's ITA Regional Doubles title.

On Oct. 22, the doubles pair of Thomas and Azuero did more than just add a doubles victory to their career records. They claimed an ITA regional title and put the program's name on the national scene with their upset victory.

During a three-set match, Liberty fended off five regional championship points from the No. 17 national doubles pair of Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini from Virginia Tech, eventually rallying and winning the ITA Atlantic Regional Doubles title in Blacksburg, Va. (4-6, 7-5, 6-4).

The victory earned the pair a trip to the hallowed tennis grounds of the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Thomas and Azuero won their first match in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships before their fall season's magical run was stopped by the No. 1 doubles pair in the country. will continue its countdown of the Top 10 Moments of 2013 tomorrow with a look at Moment No. 3.
