Meghan Babcock was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week, Wednesday.
After helping the Lady Flames defeat Michigan State of the Big Ten, Liberty junior Meghan Babcock has been named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week. Babcock, a native of Pfafftown, N.C., earns the first CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor of her career. She is the second weekly honoree for the Lady Flames this season, as senior Emilie Kaufman garnered swimmer of the week laurels on Oct. 16. Babcock recorded a pair of individual-event victories, last Friday in a tri meet against Big Ten opponents Michigan State and Illinois. She won both the 50 free (23.16) and 100 free (51.37). Her 50 free time broke the pool record, and is currently ranked first in the conference and 22nd in NCAA Division I. She also holds the second-best 100 free in the CCSA so far this season. The junior anchored Liberty's victorious 200 medley relay in 22.94, as the Lady Flames broke the existing pool record with a time of 1:42.90. She then swam 51.60 during the fourth leg of the 400 free relay, which placed second in 3:30.41. The Lady Flames will next host Vanderbilt of the SEC in their lone home meet, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m. at LaHaye Aquatic Center. Liberty then will travel to face defending Atlantic 10 champion Richmond, Nov. 9.
