A Look at Liberty Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Holly Van Noord earned a record-breaking 10th shutout, Wednesday afternoon at Osborne Stadium, as the Liberty women's soccer team defeated VMI, 2-0. Van Noord's single-season mark surpasses the previous record set by Natalie Mayer (2001) and Karen Blocker (2012). Along with Van Noord, the 2013 Lady Flames become the first team in program history to post 10 shutouts in a single season, moving ahead of the 2001, 2009 and 2012 squad for the No. 1 spot in the record books. Junior Helena Pereira and sophomore Brittany Aanderud accounted for Liberty's scoring on the afternoon. Aanderud is now tied with Crystal Elmers for the team lead in goals with five. Junior Geena Swentik chipped in an assist on Pereira's goal. With the win, Liberty moved to 10-4-1 on the year and 5-1-1 in Big South play. The Lady Flames now lead the all-time series over the Keydets, 7-3. Along with Elmers' and Aanderud's five goals each, Alanna Dunkle and Megan Warner have four and three markers, respectively. Eight Lady Flames have posted one goal apiece – Maddie Boone, Jaime Bouffard, Julia Delgatti, Madison Kauzlarich, Casey Norris, Pereira Smith and Swentik. Delgatti also leads the Lady Flames with four assists. Van Noord is currently 13th in the country in save percentage (.879) and 14th in goals-against average (0.51). Gardner-Webb at a Glance The Runnin' Bulldogs enter Saturday's matchup against the Lady Flames with a 3-11-1 record (1-5-1 Big South). Gardner-Webb is currently on a three-game skid, but managed to take the two-time defending Big South champion Radford Highlanders down to the wire in a 3-2 defeat, Wednesday. After Gardner-Webb leading scorer Shelby Hooe posted back-to-back goals to knot the contest, Radford's Britney Kendall found the net in the 80th minute to give Radford the victory.
