Earlier today, North Carolina released portions of its 2014 football schedule, which included a season-opening game against Liberty on Aug. 30.
The Flames will open up their fourth-straight football schedule on the road against a FBS opponent. Liberty will also kick off a football season against an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for the third time over a four-year span (2011 – N.C. State; 2012 – Wake Forest; 2014 – North Carolina).
The 2014 opener will mark the first-ever meeting between the Flames and the Tar Heels on the gridiron and will be played at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
During the first season under head coach Larry Fedora, North Carolina posted an 8-4 record in 2012 and tied for first place in the ACC's Coastal Division. The Tar Heels are off to a 1-2 start in 2013, having dropped games to nationally ranked South Carolina and its ACC rival Georgia Tech.
The remainder of Liberty's 2014 football schedule will be released at a later time.
