Liberty Lady Flames field hockey standout Natalie Barr has been named the NorPac East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Longwood's Jennifer Burris.
It is the first conference weekly honor of the season for Barr. Last season, the sophomore earned three offensive player of the week awards. Through the first three weeks of the season, the Lady Flames have garnered three weekly awards. Goalkeeper Ann Jefferis was tabbed the defensive player of the week on back-to-back weeks to open the 2013 campaign.
Barr's award comes off of a week in which she tallied six points (2 goals, 2 assists), 11 shots and one game-winning goal. Liberty posted a 1-1 week, dropping a hard-fought, 3-2, game at No. 18 Wake Forest on Friday, before rebounding with a 5-2 win at VCU on Sunday.
Against the Demon Deacons, Barr assisted on Ashlee Krulock's second-half goal and also added three shots in the contest. On Sunday at VCU, Barr erupted for two goals, one assist and eight shots. Each of the sophomore's five points came in the second half against the Rams.
For the season, Barr paces Liberty with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) and 20 shots.
The 3-2 Lady Flames return to action on Friday at Monmouth. Game time against the Hawks is scheduled for 3 p.m.
