A Look at Liberty After a 4-0 win over IUPUI this past Friday at Osborne Stadium in its home opener, Liberty has started its 2013 campaign with two shutouts. The Flames are only one of 12 NCAA Division I teams to open the year with two shutouts. Midfielder Sachem Wilson and goalkeeper Scott Sutarik each earned Big South weekly honors for their efforts in the Flames' victory over IUPUI. Wilson was selected the Big South Attacking Player of the Week, posting the second two-goal game of his career, scoring twice in the first half against the Jaguars. Later, the sophomore assisted on a second-half goal by Jacob Sebold for five points on the night, a career high for Wilson. Sutarik was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week, stopping five shots in recording his second shutout of the young season. The junior has now posted 13 shutouts during his Liberty career, tying him for fifth on the program's career list. Forward Kyle Breitmeyer also scored for the Flames. All three Liberty scorers on Friday netted a goal for the first time in 2013. For Sebold, his marker was the first of the sophomore's career. Liberty head coach Jeff Alder is in his 13 year at his alma mater. Alder, who has posted a 118-86-22 career record, will rely on underclassmen this season. Of Liberty's 25 players on its roster, 18 are either sophomores or freshmen.
