Liberty golfers Chase Marinell and B.J. Kuhn teamed up to claim the 64th Annual Florida State Four-Ball Championship this past weekend, leading the event wire-to-wire to win the state title.
Marinell and Kuhn teamed up to fire a 12-under par 132 to win the 2013 title by three strokes at the Hammock Dunes Club in Palm Coast, Fla.
Marinell and Kuhn, both natives of Fort Myers, Fla., carded a six-under par 66 during the opening round to take a two-stroke lead into the final round.
The pair got off to a strong start to open the final round, carding birdies on holes No. 1, 2 and 8 to make the turn at three-under par.
Marinell and Kuhn offset a single bogey on the back nine with birdies on holes No. 10, 12, 15 and 17 to finish off their three-stroke win.
The victory earns the pair an exemption into the Florida State Four-Ball Championship for the next three years.
Marinell led the Flames during the 2012-13 season with 72.74 stroke average, while earning Big South all-conference and PING All-Region honors. Kuhn joined Liberty's roster during the spring season and played in two events, including a second-place finish at the Lynchburg College Invitational.
