2013 Women's Soccer Schedule The Liberty women's soccer team will step onto the Osborne Stadium field eight times in 2013, while also playing quality non-conference road matchups at Charlotte, Drexel, Saint Joseph's and UNCG. "We have a great schedule this year," head coach Jessica Hain stated. "The non-conference will provide fresh opportunities with new teams as well as returning rivals. Each game will hold the potential for us to build regional and national credibility. We are poised to be very successful this year and we commit all our plans to the Lord." Liberty opens the season on Aug. 23 at Charlotte, before opening the home slate with back-to-back meetings against Old Dominion (Aug. 30) and American (Sept. 1). The Lady Flames are looking to capitalize on their home field advantage after besting both teams on the road, last season. On Sept. 6, Hain's squad hits the road again for three straight games, beginning with Drexel. After meetings with Saint Joseph's (Sept. 8) and UNCG (Sept. 12), the Lady Flames conclude non-conference play at home against Marshall on Sept. 15. Liberty commences Big South play on Sept. 25, squaring off with Charleston Southern. In addition to the Lady Buccaneers, the Lady Flames also host Campbell (Sept. 28), High Point (Oct. 12), VMI (Oct. 16) and Coastal Carolina (Oct. 26). Liberty's Big South road matchups include UNC Asheville (Oct. 2) Presbyterian College (Oct. 5), Radford (Oct. 9), Gardner-Webb (Oct. 19), Winthrop (Oct. 23) and Longwood (Oct. 29). Liberty's meeting with the Lancers will serve as its regular-season finale. Eight teams will compete in the 2013 Big South Championship, with the top four seeds hosting first round matchups on Nov. 1 and Nov. 3. Tournament play then moves to Coastal Carolina for the semifinals and finals, Nov. 8 and 10. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament. Heading into the 2013 season, 16 players return to this year's squad, including junior forward Helena Pereira and Big South All-Freshman team members Jaime Bouffard and Brittany Aanderud. After beginning last season with its best start in program history, Liberty ended 2012 tying its third-highest win total with 11 victories. The Lady Flames enter the fall campaign coming off a solid spring season, picking up a trio of 2-0 shutout wins over Longwood, Appalachian State and UNC Asheville. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Holly Van Noord earned all three shutouts. Pereira paced the Lady Flames with two goals during the span, while Bouffard, Rebecca Smith, Megan Warner and Alanna Dunkle added one apiece.
